As the busy holiday season approaches your calendars are undoubtedly getting full.  Please take a moment to read each section of the newsletter carefully noting all important dates and reminders!

CHRISTMAS PARADEOnce again our studio plans to march in the Hendersonville Christmas Parade.  The parade is scheduled for Sunday afternoon, December 5th at 2:30 PM.   Participationis voluntary.   We have two sets of plans this year based on the age of your child.  They are as follows:

A.  Children who are in kinderdance classes, 3 year old and 4 year old classes will NOT be marching in the parade.    However, we will teach these children a Christmas dance in class, and those who wish will have the opportunity to perform that dance in the “Kid’s Zone” area prior to the parade.  More details on the younger students’ Kid’s Zone Performance will be sent at a later date.

B.  All students in Primary classes and older are invited to march in the parade.  This year’s parade theme is “Christmas Around The World”, and our studio will portray a Hawaiian Christmas as we dance to the Hawaiian Christmas tune, “Mele Kalikimaka”.  The teachers will teach the parade dance in class, and a group rehearsal for all those marching in the parade will be held at the studio on Friday, December 3rd from 6:00-7:00 PM.

****Required Attire to March in Parade:  If your child plans to march in the parade with our studio, you will need to order him/her an American Academy sweat suit. See details below.  We will also be ordering Hawaiian  leis and flower headbands for $3.00 per set for those marching in the parade.

NOW ORDERING 25THANNIVERSARY AAD SWEATS:  This year we have had a special logo designed to celebrate our 25thyear, and we will be ordering gray sweat suits with this logo.  The logo will be black and white.  We have a new style of shirt for the adults and a new style of pant that we feel will fit well for the youth and adult sizes.  Sample sizes should be available by November 1st.  Anyone may order, but orders MUST be received by THURSDAY EVENING, NOVEMBER 11TH. This will be the ABSOLUTE deadline.  Prices are as follows:

Adult size shirt:  $25.00

Adult size pants:  $20.00

Youth shirt:  $18.00

Youth pants:  $21.00

The AAD logo will be on both the shirt and the pants.  Remember, all those marching in the parade will need to order a sweat suit.

COSTUME DEPOSITSThank you to all who have made deposits on the recital costumes.  If you have not done so or have just recently started classes, we ask that you make a deposit of 25.00 per costume as soon as possible.  If you don’t know how many costumes your child will have, please see Marikay in the office, and she will help you calculate your costume deposit.  All costumes will be ordered prior to Christmas break.    Costume balances will be posted to your dance account in January.   Costumes will be distributed by your child’s teacher when they arrive.   In order to receive your costume(s), all account balances must be paid to date. Please remember that you are obligated to purchase the costume, once it has been ordered, even if your child discontinues classes.  Unless we have been notified that your child will not be in the recital, we WILL order him/her a costume.

HOUSEKEEPINGWith over 500 students and their parents in and out of the studio each week, it is a challenge to keep the building clean and tidy, and we ask for everyone’s cooperation.  Students, please be sure to throw away trash, uneaten food or drink, and clean up spills when they occur. If you need assistance with supplies please ask our staff. Parents, we ask that you help by attending to spilled snacks, crayons, toys etc left on the floor, tables or chairs by younger children and siblings. Please do NOT dispose of any trash in the trash receptacle located in our back parking lot.  Please only use the trash cans located inside the building.  Only trash that is bagged and sealed in a large trash bag can be disposed of outside. One final note-please do not allow young children to play with toys (cars, balls etc) in the walkways and lobby areas.  Not only does this obstruct the walkways, but we are concerned that someone may trip and fall.  We thank you for your cooperation.

INCLEMENT WEATHERAgain, let us remind you that we do NOT always follow the school closings in the event of bad weather.  Please check our website and answering machine for studio closing updates.

TEACHER/CLASS EVALUATIONS:    In mid November we will be emailing a teacher/class evaluation form out to all of our parents.  This will give us the opportunity to gather your feedback regarding your child’s classroom experience here at AAD.  Parental input is an important tool in helping us provide a positive and productive dance experience for your child.  Please watch for this form so that you can participate.

 Thank you.  HAPPY THANKSGIVING!!
